Kayleigh and Elliott were recently married at St. Ethelbert’s Catholic Church in Ramsgate. It was a beautiful but hot summer’s day on the Kent coast.
The happy couple had waited the best part of three years to reach this day. The recent pandemic had seen to that. As with most weddings this year, it was a very busy time for me.
The morning was hot and sunny, a good omen for the day ahead. I do film a lot of weddings in churches but rarely Catholic so I attended the rehearsal to check light and acoustics and was surprised at the large space. Stained glass windows gave the interior a lovely quality so I ensured they were part of my main wide shot on camera.
Kayleigh and Elliott are a lovely couple. I had first met them well over two years ago and wondered if their wedding day would ever arrive. So many postponements but the moment had arrived..
Mark and Mandy from AG Studios in Margate were the photographers and we worked seamlessly together. I always make a point of dropping an email to say hi a few days before a wedding. It always breaks the ice and usually guarantees a harmonious day ahead. Besides, it’s also good manners.
The Grove Ferry Inn
After the wedding, we headed down to Ramsgate Harbour to take some quality footage and then it was onto the Grove Ferry Inn not far from Canterbury. I know this quaint riverside pub very well over the years. I’ve shot weddings there before and was looking forward to doing so again.
To say the venue is picturesque is an understatement. Weeping willows, kayakers shouting their congratulations, and boats make the Grove Ferry Inn a magnificent place to hold your wedding reception.
And so it was, a fabulous day was had by one and all. Thank you Kayleigh and Elliott for allowing me to film your big day!
