Jodie and Rich wedding
Jodie and Rich were married at Penshurst Place near Tonbridge in Kent. This venue has so much character and dates back to who knows when. It definitely is a great wedding venue. The gardens alone are out of this world as only England can do.
I met Jodie and Rich a month prior to their wedding for a beer in the rear garden of a nearby pub. We discussed what they wanted from their wedding video. I always do this because for me, it has to be what the bride and groom want. Some couples are very specific, some are more happy to leave it all to me.
Rich was hilarious, actually. He made it clear that the wedding video was firmly in Jodie’s control which was fine. That made things easier for me. Meeting couples before their wedding allows me to get a glimpse of their character to a degree which gives me a firm idea of which way I will film their wedding day.
The wedding day
It was one of those perfect English summer days, barely a cloud in the sky. My previous wedding at Penshurst Place had been in the middle of several thunderstorms where everyone was inside.
This day couldn’t have been more different. I have talked about light before on these blogs and how important it is. Jodie and Rich’s wedding day was brilliant in that regard. The sun shone, not too harshly and the day had that ideal soft late summer sunshine which I love.
The wedding ceremony took place outside in the central courtyard and went to perfection. It was over before we knew it. We were fortunate to be allowed the use of the vast and picturesque gardens at the rear for photos and video. I prefer to film events in a natural manner rather than posed shots. Jodie and Rich were so relaxed, it made my job so easy.
So, a big thank you to Jodie and Rich for hiring us, you gave us the perfect ingredients.
